Pipeline systems are located underground and are usually spread over many kilometers. Access to few areas was restricted as they were risky to access. There is a probability of risks and losses due to defects in pipe lining system. So, there is a need of careful and regular check. It is not possible for human to visually check perfectly. Drones are useful in resolving such problems during inspecting pipelines . These drones that are with cameras are useful to capture the conditions of pipelines. Drones can fly above the length of pipeline while recording the visuals. Additionally they can also record and display video in real time.

Inaccessible areas can also be inspected with the help of drones and drone operator. Drone operator controls the drone from a safe place. He gets an immediate overview of particular condition of the pipeline. On observing any defect he can focus on the defective part and can capture the conditions in detail.

Traditional camera can only detect visible areas with damages or can record them. But, thermal cameras can detect the defective part and can also record thermal radiation of the object also. Hidden defects which we cannot observe with naked eye seen on the basis of difference between surface to the pipeline. Moving further it is also easy to detect heat losses and can also identify damaged insulation.

One can also discover broken under ground pipelines. In pipelines, penetration of hot water causes earth to heat and it helps to identify where the pipe was broken. So, there is no need to examine pipelines which were spread over kilometers, as the areas with problem can be discovered easily. Thin areas and background with different temperatures indicates that there is a risk of breakage. Such areas must be inspected regularly to prevent higher risks.
